This method incorporates several subjects --- such as art, history, math, science, geography, etc. --- around the context of one topical theme like water, animals, native tribes, famous people...
You can create your own lessons and follow very much your own ideas and interests.

"When integrating ideas into a theme or unit study, children will use and enhance their knowledge of core subject areas — reading, writing, history, geography, science, and math, as well as art, music, and physical education — all interwoven with a topic that interests them at a certain point in their lives. Each area of the curriculum connects in a cohesive manner, helping children to understand the reason that different skills are important and how they relate to a single purpose. Besides putting their reading, writing, and math skills to use, they can hone their research, thinking, and problem-solving skills in a way that is fun and almost effortless. And because the subject matter is one that especially interests them at this time in their life, the chances of growing bored and resisting the lessons are quite diminished."
